Someone once told me that your left hand ring finger ran directly to your heart. I also thought that this is was a reason we used it for our wedding rings. Does this hold truth?
i know that all veins in your body go to your heart. I'm NOT dumb, but i meant that you vein in that particular finger goes directly to your heart. not have to merge with others. I thought that if someone wanted to off themselves by slitting wrist, i thought that they would cut the left hand to do the fastest. Whatever, why do we use that finger for our wedding ring?
I heard about this, too. And yes, there is a vein that runs from your ring finger to your heart. But there is also a vein running from every other finger to your heart, too. You have to get blood supply to all of them right??
*** Joni, of course you're not dumb. I did a little research for you. It seems that long before they knew a lot about anatomy it was theorized that there was a vein running directly from that finger to the heart. That is how the tradition of wearing it on the left hand ring finger started. Now that theory has been proven untrue, but because of tradition it has become custom to wear the wedding ring on that finger. I'll post some sources so you can read yourself.
